Gravity is a vocational training program. The scheme aims to help poor and low income households to come out of poverty with at least one job per family. Through this scheme, GFSPL aims to provide unemployed youth with the necessary skill sets towards a successful career.
Under this scheme, Development Resource Center (DRC), a Dharwad based organization, has designed a vocational training program for unemployed undergraduates. DRC imparts training to the candidates while GFSPL does the initial shortlisting of the candidates for the program and finances the candidates who are finally selected for the training program. GFSPL staff work in co-ordination with DRC for the implementation of the program.
Once the candidates are shortlisted by GFSPL, DRC will do the final selection of candidates for the program. Loans are sanctioned by branches of GFSPL following which the training is started at DRC. GFSPL & DRC work together in giving placements to the candidates at the end of the training program. Till now 54 candidates have successfully completed the program and have been employed. The major employers include More stores (Aditya Birla group) and Vodafone.
The total fees for the Gravity program is Rs. 14,000 of which the candidate’s contribution would be a minimum of Rs. 4,000 and the balance of say Rs. 10000 would be given as loan from GFSPL. There is a moratorium of 4 months for the candidates to start repaying the loan.
