Hippocampus

GFSPL has started 21 learning centers across rural Karnataka in partnership with Hippocampus Learning Centres (HLC), as part of its credit plus initiatives. This program aims to make primary education more fun and interesting by making it play based and using multimedia as a teaching method. Children benefit from these programs as it is fun, colorful and a lot easier to grasp. As part of this program, members of GFSPL are provided an opportunity to run these centers as franchisees which helps them to earn additional income for themselves.

The project consists of three programs, focusing on three specific groups of students.

1. Primary Education Centers (PEC)

This is a program for primary school children (age 6-13 years) who attend these centers after their school hours to improve their academic performance. Group activities, games, painting and coloring activities are parts of the program. Every Primary Education Center has a library with colorful books to make learning more fun for the children. Through the program, the children from villages become more confident and start speaking English as fluently as their counterparts from cities and urban areas.

2. Video based Coaching Centers

This is a program for SSLC (10th Class) students, to help them perform better in their examinations. The service of best teachers from the city coupled with video based teaching is making qualitative changes in the students' performance.

3. Kindergarten Centers (KG)

This is a program for small children between 3 and 5 years of age. Its activities and teaching methods based on the Montessori system attract kids to these centers.
