Praveen is an employee working at the More Store (Aditya Birla Group) at Bilekahalli, Bangalore. He got trained by the GRAVITY program, and has got placement at this store four months ago. Praveen said that Grameen Koota is well-known in his native place and it was through his mother that he came to know about GRAVITY. “My mother inspired me to join the training program and I did it in May-June 2011. Now I have a job,” Praveen said with a sense of achievement.
Praveen completed PUC in 2009. He is a native of Belgam. His father is a painter and mother housewife. Praveen's mother is a member of Grameen Koota and is very happy about being part of the organization. Praveen has a sister, Sruthi, who is a 10th class student.
Praveen said that he completed the Gravity training programin Dharwad. Gravity is GK's job-oriented training program for unemployed undergraduates from poor economic background with the aim of availing at least one job per family. The course contained computer training, principles of customer care, training in English language, lessons for life, etc. “I feel that the course was very good for my future life, and I hope to grow in my career,” Praveen sounded optimistic.
Praveen is happy that he earns Rs. 5000/- per month. Although living in Bangalore is costly, he believes that he can gradually grow through his present employment. He is thankfully aware that GRAVITY has given him and youngsters like him an opening to a wider and developed future. “I want to become a store manager one day,” he expressed his wish for the future.
